The Biboni sofa, designed by the Johnston Marklee studio—founded by Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee—is the result of a collaboration with Knoll, a historic company attentive to the intersection between architectural design and form of use. The designers' approach is evident in the object's volumetric construction: a sequence of calibrated curves and rounded solids that interpret domestic space in a sculptural key.
The rhythmic composition of the surface, the geometry of the folds, and the attention to the relationship between form and posture all reference the poetics of the Californian studio. The upholstery, worked with sartorial rigour, follows the structure with precision without exaggerating or simplifying. Biboni is available in three size variants—two, three, or four seats—and in a wide range of colours.
The upholstery is calibrated to support the body naturally, while the recessed feet, not visible at a glance, lighten the visual impact of the whole. Designed to be observed from all angles, Biboni lends itself to central contexts, where its form can dialogue freely with space and light. Every detail is designed to restore balance, not ostentation.
